What is an executive search internship? The executive search interns at Apex focus on supporting the recruitment process for the clients in their industry team. For our most recent interns, Liam and Jaydon, their focus was in the Legal and Pharmaceutical teams respectively. Their day to day involved working closely with the consultants on their industry teams and supporting the recruitment process.
Both Jaydon and Liam had some previous sales experience before they began at Apex, however this was there first time working in the recruitment industry.
“Being an intern in recruitment allowed us the opportunity to greatly improve our communication and sales skills in a short amount of time. Developing the ability to talk to many high level professionals in the industry really showed me the value of constantly improving my communication skills.” – Jaydon
“I have always loved working with people in a sales environment, but struggled with the transactional manner that my previous companies valued. I really enjoyed my time at Apex because the emphasis is more on building long term relationship with clients and candidates.” – Liam
What challenges does an executive search intern face?
Liam and Jaydon both had very successful Apex internship experiences, however it did not come without its challenges. Both of them spoke extensively about how the commitment to quality is much higher at Apex than any other job they have worked in before.
“Working alongside senior members of the Apex team really showed us the value of a continuous commitment to quality and accountability. For both Jaydon and myself the first few weeks at Apex was a major learning curve. The people that we communicate with at Apex are respected professionals in their industries, so it is crucial that all of our communication is held to the highest standard. Attention to detail is key and this was something I learned to focus on throughout my time at Apex.” - Liam
